A Riddle for You...a Conundrum If You Will

For the past few weeks I have been struggling with an issue of increasing importance, but I haven't been able to really talk to anyone in Tuscaloosa about it. Realizing that there is more wisdom on our blog than in this debauched city, I decided to post my dilemma.

Beginning my senior year of high school, I became convinced that Mississippi State University is one of the lowest institutions in the universe with the exception of LSU (Geaux to Hell, Tigers!). Reasons for this are clear. Maroon sucks, Starkville sucks, Cowbells are as stupid as they are obnoxious, and MOST of the fans (I'm being nice here) are as obnoxious as they are stupid. There really hasn't been any reason to consider pulling for this team, particularly after they lost to Maine.

That being said, there is now a reason to no longer hate State: My new girlfriend went there, and she wants me to pull for them. Now, there are three options presented here.
1. Hate State.
2. Be neutral.
3. Pull for State.
While the lapse of sanity that caused her to go to State may be a very real thing, thus saving her character, she still wants me to pull for them. What do I do? Do I hold strong to my convictions and sacrifice sweet lovin'? Or do I change my stance to neutral (pulling for State simply is not an option)? Please help.

*I will value opinions from fellow Rebs above all others.

Dude, Bunge, you've gotta stay true. Don't give an inch to her on State or she'll sneak a mile where it counts. Next thing you know, you'll be like that guy in the Dr Pepper commercial, buying tampax and doing yoga. Except that she'll take your cold beverage away from you, and you'll be helpless to stop her.

Take it from someone who hasn't had a serious relationship in five years: Don't give in. It can only lead to bad things.

The Bunge, I think (and hope) you know where I stand on this issue. I grew up in south Mississippi, where I was one of 7 Ole Miss fans in my town (5 were in my family). My best friend went to Moo U, bless his heart, and we're still doing fine. You have to stick with your Alma Mater, and "Fight for your Ole Miss!" I love and miss you.

I too am happy for you two cats. Go get 'em.

'I would do anything for love...I would do anything for love...I would do anything for love...but I won't do that.'

Great point John...while we are using commercials as insights into situations like this does anyone remember the HILARIOUS commercial with the girl and guy on the couch one with the Ohio State Jersey and the other wearing a Michigan shirt? It seems appropriate, i would think.

Does anyone remember what the statement was on that commercial? Just a thought.
